Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where do your tours depart from?

A: Lake Argyle Caravan Park and Resort, the East Kimberley, Western Australia. About a 70km drive from Kununurra. See our Contact Us page for a map.

Q: Are there vegetarian options for the Gourmet Camp Oven Experience?

A: Yes. We can swap the barramundi for haloumi and swap the pork belly for a camp oven cooked brie, cranberry, onion, basil and sunflower seed mini pizza. Contact Us to discuss any other dietary requirements.

Q: Can we BYO drinks on the Gourmet Camp Oven?

A: Yes. We provide one complimentary Matso's Ginger Beer on arrival to enjoy as the sun sets. We have an esky with ice for your drinks at the time of pickup. Wine and champagne glasses are also provided.

Q: Is there much walking involved during your tours?

A: Beyond Argyle has a couple of short walks. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes and a water bottle. Iced water will be available to top your bottle up during the tour.

Q: I saw Roy's Retreat on the BBC, can I visit without going on tour?

A: No. Barbara Walker at Roy's Retreat is a very busy lady and doesn't take visitors outside of tour hours. The only way to visit this amazing place is on the Beyond Argyle tour.

Q: Is the Stockman's Museum at Roy's Retreat the same as the Argyle Downs Homestead / Durack Homestead?

A: No. Roy Walker was a head stockman on Argyle Station and put together his own collection. This museum can only be visited on the Beyond Argyle tour.

Q: Where is the food for your tours sourced from?

A: As local as possible! We love supporting local businesses and their amazing produce. Each dish is designed with the Kimberley and the Ord River Irrigation Area in mind. A big shout out to The Hoochery, ORIA Orchards, The Chia Company, Kimberley Beez Honey, Ocean to River Seafood and Tenderspot Meat Company Kununurra.

Q: What tour vehicle are we going in?

A: A comfortable and air-conditionediconic orange Toyota 10 seater Troopy. You can't miss her!

Q: Do you pick up from Kununurra accommodation or Kununurra Caravan Parks?

A: No. But Lake Argyle to Kununurra is a beautiful 45 minute drive or a 50 minute drive from Kununurra Airport. See our map on the Contact Us page.

Q: Are your tours seasonal?

A: Yes. We operate in the dry season between April and September when the Kununurra weather and Lake Argyle weather is perfect!
